Submission

Genesis 3:13

The husband ruling the wife was part of the curse. So is having great pain in child birth, and having more children than is manageable. The husband was made to work hard without ever being satisfied with what he labored for. God did not curse them. Their own breaking of the spiritual laws caused these things to come into effect.

Jonah 2:8 tells us that they that observe lying vanities forsake their own mercy.

Jesus Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, so when we receive Him we no longer need to live like this.

Galatians 3:13,14

God has called us to submit to one another. Wives are to submit to their husbands only, not to men in general. They are to submit as unto the Lord. In other words, Godís word and will first, then your husband. Submit means: to adapt yourself to become an agreeable working part of a plan. If your husband wants you to do something that hinders Godís plan, stand up and say no. The husband is the head of the wife for he can be the savior of her body as Christ was of the church.

Working and living in agreement with your husband and the Lordís plan for both of you is Godís will. When a husband and wife are both walking and working in Godís plan, they will both be going in the same direction and there will be no cause for disagreement in vision. God will never give husband and wife conflicting plans.

I Corinthians 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace as in all churches of the saints.

A group of men and women got together to decide how they would define and exercise submission. Here are some of the results:

1. Submission is being a servant not a taker.

2. Submitting to the Lordís will for your partner even if it causes personal discomfort to you.

3. Submission is a decision and a choice.

4. Submission is an agreed to partnership, when no party is made less than the other.

5. Being submissive is exercising power under control.

6. A submissive person will have a desire to please others and will recognize the ministry of other individuals, even when it is unlike theirs.

7. Submission communicates even when it is difficult.

8. Submission treads lightly and never refuses to take instructions.

The Lord shares these thoughts on submission:

Ephesians 5:21,25

Submit yourselves one to another in the fear of God. Wives submit yourself unto your own husbands as unto the Lord for the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is head of the church and He is the Savior of the Body. Therefore as the Church is subject unto Christ so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything. Husbands love your wives even as Christ also loved the Church and gave Himself for us that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word.
